3 Segments, 3 Outfits

Hosting Inside AlliSports (solo). We shot 3 separate segments, so that meant 3 different outfits.

Summer is right around the corner and bright colors are in full force. Break out of your fashion comfort zone and try a new color and style. Yellow was my break out color worn with my first pair of high wasted pants.

I've found that when I wear color I smile more :)

Mommy Day

Everyday is mommy’s day, but today we get to shower the women who brought us into this world with unconditional love and gratitude.

We spent the afternoon watching UCSB & Annie (sister #3) dominate their soccer tournament at UCLA, then came home for a delicious homemade meal.

Tell your mom how much you love her EVERYDAY :)

Spring Out

This week's outfits on Angels Weekly

top: H&M

Floral is fun and perfect for spring, and this light blouse worked great on camera, keeping that professional look without sweating my face off in 80+ heat.

top: NastyGal.com // jeans: Forever 21 // shoes: Steve Madden

My new favorite color of the season is PEACH. I love this top’s shoulder cut outs and studded collar, it gives the blouse the perfect combination of a professional yet funky flare…and it’s peach :)

top: LF // jeans: J Brand // shoes: Vince Camuto // scarf: LF // purse: Chanel // necklace: Demistache // bracelets: Energy Muse & Ama beads

Even though I'm not on camera for VO days (voice over), the booties and scarf dress up the outfit making it an appropriate & casual office look.

Angel Girl: Meeting the Angels

Last week I started a new column in the Easy Reader called Angel Girl. Every couple of weeks, I will share my adventures in this new aaaamazing job, take you behind the scenes, as well as document the Angels season. So with out further ado, here's a taste of my first entry-

I couldn’t sleep. Not a wink.
It was the night before my first day on the job as a reporter and host of Angels Weekly, the Fox Sports West show that will chronicle the Los Angeles Angels season, going behind-the-scenes to show just who these players are – their stories, passions, the hopes and hard work behind each Angel’s journey to the big leagues.
I was about to meet the Angels. I was in a hotel room in Tempe, Arizona, the night before the Angels’ first day of Spring Training. We flew in from LA in the early evening, had a late dinner, and went to bed. I remember looking at the alarm clock at 12:30 a.m. and saying to myself, “Oh my god. I am not going to sleep tonight.”
I tried to meditate. I did some yoga. I even did some sit-ups, thinking that might wear me out. At 3:30 a.m. I looked at the clock and thought, “I have to be up in three hours!” Just one hour, I thought – please, just give me one hour of sleep. But 6:30 arrived, the alarm went off, and I jumped out of bed, sleepless. I talk to myself a lot: “Okay, here we go — first day on the job with not a wink of sleep.”
I do my own makeup, and it’s a two-hour process (this time with a little extra concealer below my eyes). By 8:30, my producer had arrived, picked me up, and we were off Diablo Stadium, the springtime home of the Angels. I had butterflies in my stomach, but my running dialogue with myself was working. As soon as I walked out the door, I set my mind on it – alright, first day on the job, you better get your day together. All of a sudden I felt like I had eight hours sleep. I psyched myself into feeling great. When we walked into the stadium, I did feel great – I was smiling ear-to-ear.

We walked into a room set-up for interviews, and I was introduced to Jose Mota, the Angel radio analyst who also does pre- and post-game on-air commentary. He was so warm and friendly that I felt immediately at ease. We talked a little bit, and I offered to help him with his social media – Jose, I later learned, is famously “old school” and probably wouldn’t know a tweet if he saw one – and that seemed to really make him happy.
Jose was interviewing Angels Howie Kendrick and Tori Hunter. I was happy to observe and learn, but the production team decided they’d have me finish up the interviews (and Jose, who said they should let players have “a prettier face” to talk to), asking some different kind of questions – like what at-bat music they wanted on the on the ballpark P.A. system this year, or what person, dead or alive, they’d have dinner with if they could.
I’d barely arrived at the stadium and I was going on-air. It was like, here we go, Alex.

Life's a Beach

Outfit: top: Forever 21 (Samburu collection) // pants: Carmar (LF) // jacket: Millau (LF) // shoes: VANS // ring: Forever 21 // bracelets: Ama beads & forever 21

When dressing for different shows, I always think of the audience. Fox is a little more traditional, so it’s like mixing a young funk with a popped collar. BUT with action sports it’s back to my casual beach roots.

I love wearing colored pants, and pairing it with a jean jacket gives it a laidback feel. The tribal top keeps the outfit fun and colorful, and my classic checkered vans complete any beach outfit.

NIKE Lowers Pro

This week I took a day off from baseball and headed down to the beach to cover the Nike Lowers Pro for Inside Alli Sports. Lower Testlecs is a very popular (and always crowded) wave known for it’s 100 yard lefts and rights. However, during this competition pro surfers get a chance to ride these machine-like-waves without the crowds, so that means plenty of progressive airs.

Dream Weaver

Last night at Angels stadium was truly remarkable for Jered Weaver. Weave made baseball history throwing a no hitter against the Twins in a 9-0 game and series sweep. The coolest thing for Jered is he grew up just around the corner from the Big A, and turned down numerous deals last year to stay with his hometown team. Weaver is the 9th complete game no-hitter in Angels history.

Vintage Gems

Spring cleaning is in the air, so it’s out with the old and in with the new(ish). Last week I cleared out my closet, and got rid of one piece for every new item I’ve bought since January. After giving my sisters a first pick at my old clothes, I bagged the oldies and headed to Buffalo Exchange.

After selling a couple pieces, I always do a quick browse around the store. I’ve needed some new high heel booties for work, and within minutes I found a couple keepers. BUT it wasn’t until I was at the register about to close out that I saw her- a gorgeous red vintage CHANEL. It was love at first site- it looked like a Pocahontas adventure pouch and it’s Angels red :)

CHANEL $175

Vince Camuto $49

Steve Madden $39

With the left over clothes Buffalo didn’t purchase, I gave 3 full trash bags to the Goodwill.

Happy spring :)
