Pitchers & Catchers- Day 1

Angels baseball is BACK. However, it was a bittersweet day at Tempe Diablo Stadium, as the pitchers and catchers had their first workout, they were also remembering the life of Angels legend Jim Fregosi.

Mike Trout's First Career Cycle

My first sideline reporting job with the Angels turned out to be a pretty memorable night. It was Josh Hamilton's birthday and Mike Trout's first career cycle.

It's been a fun journey with Trout. I remember talking to him the first day he was brought up to The Bigs, going to his first All Star Game, flying out to NJ the day he won Rookie Of The Year, and being the first person he talked to after his first cycle. So it's only fitting that my first Gatorade shower was with Trout.

While he was answering my question, my producer started chanting in my ear, "Alex move, Alex move, Alex move..." I had no idea what he was talking about, until I saw the Gatorade bin being poured over Trout's shoulder! I jetted out of there as fast as I could, and made it without a single splash on me...I still have no idea how I did that.

Pitchers Catchers & Racing

Question of the day- what's your best teammate impersonation. Pujols batting face and Mike Trout's running face = A+ for C.J.

After another gorgeous, but chilly morning at Tempe Diablo Stadium, CJ, Hank and I hit the race track for a little adventure.

Always make time for a little fun :)

Goo Goo Dolls & Angels

Last night the Goo Goo Dolls rocked the big A after the game, and lucky little me, got to interview and introduce the 90's classic.

This summer I've been obsessed with bright colored pants, they really add a pop of flavor to any outfit. They look great with solids, color blocking or a graphic tee.
Peplum has been seen everywhere this summer...on tops, dresses and jackets, and adds the perfect feminine touch to any outfit. Plus, peplum totally dresses up your look when paired with skinny or boyfriend jeans.

Angel Girl: Meeting the Angels

Last week I started a new column in the Easy Reader called Angel Girl. Every couple of weeks, I will share my adventures in this new aaaamazing job, take you behind the scenes, as well as document the Angels season. So with out further ado, here's a taste of my first entry-

I couldn’t sleep. Not a wink.
It was the night before my first day on the job as a reporter and host of Angels Weekly, the Fox Sports West show that will chronicle the Los Angeles Angels season, going behind-the-scenes to show just who these players are – their stories, passions, the hopes and hard work behind each Angel’s journey to the big leagues.
I was about to meet the Angels. I was in a hotel room in Tempe, Arizona, the night before the Angels’ first day of Spring Training. We flew in from LA in the early evening, had a late dinner, and went to bed. I remember looking at the alarm clock at 12:30 a.m. and saying to myself, “Oh my god. I am not going to sleep tonight.”
I tried to meditate. I did some yoga. I even did some sit-ups, thinking that might wear me out. At 3:30 a.m. I looked at the clock and thought, “I have to be up in three hours!” Just one hour, I thought – please, just give me one hour of sleep. But 6:30 arrived, the alarm went off, and I jumped out of bed, sleepless. I talk to myself a lot: “Okay, here we go — first day on the job with not a wink of sleep.”
I do my own makeup, and it’s a two-hour process (this time with a little extra concealer below my eyes). By 8:30, my producer had arrived, picked me up, and we were off Diablo Stadium, the springtime home of the Angels. I had butterflies in my stomach, but my running dialogue with myself was working. As soon as I walked out the door, I set my mind on it – alright, first day on the job, you better get your day together. All of a sudden I felt like I had eight hours sleep. I psyched myself into feeling great. When we walked into the stadium, I did feel great – I was smiling ear-to-ear.

We walked into a room set-up for interviews, and I was introduced to Jose Mota, the Angel radio analyst who also does pre- and post-game on-air commentary. He was so warm and friendly that I felt immediately at ease. We talked a little bit, and I offered to help him with his social media – Jose, I later learned, is famously “old school” and probably wouldn’t know a tweet if he saw one – and that seemed to really make him happy.
Jose was interviewing Angels Howie Kendrick and Tori Hunter. I was happy to observe and learn, but the production team decided they’d have me finish up the interviews (and Jose, who said they should let players have “a prettier face” to talk to), asking some different kind of questions – like what at-bat music they wanted on the on the ballpark P.A. system this year, or what person, dead or alive, they’d have dinner with if they could.
I’d barely arrived at the stadium and I was going on-air. It was like, here we go, Alex.

Dream Weaver

Last night at Angels stadium was truly remarkable for Jered Weaver. Weave made baseball history throwing a no hitter against the Twins in a 9-0 game and series sweep. The coolest thing for Jered is he grew up just around the corner from the Big A, and turned down numerous deals last year to stay with his hometown team. Weaver is the 9th complete game no-hitter in Angels history.

Angels Fan Fest

Saturday’s Fan Fest was soooo much fun. It’s not often that MLB players get to show their fans how much they appreciate them, but before their game Saturday, they did!! It was great to see players interacting with fans, signing autographs, and taking photos. It’s the extra things like Fan Fest that make the Angels such an amazing organization.

Fan Fest provided fun-filled activities for the whole family, live interviews with the players on stage, signings, and my personal favorite, the RALLY MONKEY!

the velcro wall :)

Work it Out

With a new job, comes a new look, and a slight adjustment to my style- the on camera working girl :)

The cropped, short sleeve sweater is great for those cooler summer days. When working I wear it over a loose under shirt, but around the beach I would pair this with my high wasted jean shorts.

Sweater: Forever 21 Heritage // Shirt: American Apparel // Jeans: J Brand // Shoes: Dolce Vita // Shades: Ray Ban // Ring: Forever 21 // Necklace: Demistache (Here)

You can never go wrong with the blazer and jean look. It gives your outfit a fun, young, business casual feel. PLUS a white blazer is a great staple for summer.

Blazer: Urban Outfitters (Here) // Top: Free People // Jeans: Free People // Bracelets: Ama beads

I NEVER thought I'd rock jean on jean, but it's kind of my new favorite thing- pairing light denim and black denim.

Jean top: Anthropologie (Here) // Jeans: J Brand // Booties: LF // Necklace: Demistache (Available summer 2012)

Giving Back with Torii Hunter

Today, Torii Hunter and I went on a mini tour to all the schools in Laguna Beach to talk about the importance of hard work, following your dreams and staying in school. Torii's story is incredibly endearing, and is the perfect example of where hard work can get ya- in the majors with 8 Gold Gloves. Not to mention his kind heart puts a smile on every face he meets.

Tune into Angels Weekly this Friday after the game on Fox Sports West to catch Torii's feature.

Be the best you can be EVERYDAY :)

Beach Magazine- Angel Girl

I'm smiling ear to ear after reading this amazing article in the Easy Reader's Beach Magazine :)

“The ones that make it are the ones that spend hours every single day working towards their craft, getting up when they fall, not taking no for an answer, taking that risk – and that is what it is, you are going to have to take that risk, and it’s scary,” Curry said. “I’m following my dreams and I don’t know if it’s going to work out, I don’t know what the future holds for me if I don’t end up where I want to be, but I love what I do so much I am willing to take that risk and do whatever it takes to get there. I am so appreciative and grateful for the help I get along the way, and the support, but in the end this is what I want to do and where I want to be. And I’m going to do it.”

You have the power to make your dreams a reality.

Chatting with Weaver about his morning routine on start days. It's pretty impressive that he had his 3rd consecutive opening day start this year!
